Sociology and Politics in the Cuban Revolution Encounters and Setbacks, Yesterday and Today

On This article presents an overview of the recent evolution
of Sociology in Cuba, looking to the development of political
sociology during the last twenty five years. It offers a synthetic
description of some of the most important processes related
with undergraduate studies, postgraduate studies, publications
and research in cuban sociology after the triumph of the
Cuban Revolution. The analysis shows the influence which
the sociopolitical and ideological frame has exerted upon the
development of this discipline and its academic consolidation,
as well as to increase its interrelations with the transformations
that cuban society currently lives. It focuses the main moments
of encounters and setbacks in the sociopolitical context in Cuba.
