Abstract

The article points out some of the most important features of
the Sociology of Education: its various dimensions, its history,
the topics that has privileged, its main exponents, its insertion
in Venezuela as a specialized field of sociology. The theoretical
background of discipline is briefly described; highlighting the
most important authors, as well as the evolution of the main
issues that are currently present in the Sociology of Education.
It briefly describes the situation in Latin America, highlighting
the impact of Sociology of Higher Education. Finally, some of the
features and authors of the Sociology of Education in Venezuela
are indicated.
