Mega sporting events in Latin America: implications, patterns and trends. should governments continue financially supporting their realization?

It is known by mega-sport event all those athletic
competition involving a long and complex process of organization
and whose realization affects in different ways and at different
levels the city or the host country. Following the trends of several
developed countries, some major sport events have also been
organized in Latin America in the last decade which have impacted
in different ways the urban infrastructure and the memory of
the people, but at the same time have affected the economy of
some of the governments that have supported them. After several
corruption scandals associated with the organization of some
mega-sport events, it has become imperative to ask: Is it worth
that governments continue to support their realization?
